Beer Sheva and Vacinity - 2010 & 2011

In the early spring we had a number of little "visitors" from the neighboring Gaza Strip. This site is less than one block from my house. One resident of the house below spent the morning in the hospital getting stitched up. After the sirens go off you have 60 seconds to find cover. We had quite a lot of this activity in the south of Israel in March and early April. Intercepting devices called "Iron Kipot (dome)" has since been deployed. It has been much quieter ever since.

My first Yom Ha'atzmaut (Israel Independence Day) was very special and made more so coming only a few weeks after a rocket attack. I spent the evenings at traditional BBQs and took my flatmate's dog for a walk around the city.
I hope these photos have made you want to see more of Israel. Prints and printable files are available.
